While Rachela was living with Zofia Olszakowska, Irena went to Warsaw invited by her old friend- Danuta. During her stay she joined the AK (Home Army) conspiration and worked as a 'go - between'. And she took a really good decision because the situation calmed down, it wasn’t as dangerous as it had been before and Rachela could come back to Zawadzkie’s house. There Rachelka made friends with Irena’s nephew - Stefanek - who was at the same age as she was. They were the best friends.
