Minsk Mazowiecki is one of the oldest cities in the eastern Mazovia. The first mention of it appears in fact as early as the thirteenth century from the fourteenth century, this city was a trade settlement. The present name, like the previous (Mieńsko, Mensko) probably originate from the river property, which passes close to the city. It's in the valley Mienia developed settlement in this region.
soon, because already 29 maja 1421 years settlement was granted city rights. Prince Decision Mazowieckie Janusz I of the municipality the right location at Chelmno law was the owner of the settlement Mieńsko Gościeńczyc knight John of arms Prus III. Thus arose one of the first cities on private land east of this region.
Initially, until the sixteenth in a town developed on the left bank of Silver, the river that runs through the city. For these years the market has remained in the shape of a rectangle, at which, at its northern side stood a wooden church, erected in 1422 here r the parish. Shortly thereafter, the city built the school, which has established a good reputation and enjoyed it until the early seventeenth century, during this period the city experienced significant growth, primarily develop trade and crafts. Minsk is also the importance of family, because such owners have adopted the name of the city, gained increasing importance. In the sixteenth above the wooden church donates Mińscy brick parish church. The temple was rebuilt many times. Currently, mass of the church is neo-baroque style. About the number of inhabitants in this period various publications give different figures, often widely divergent from 900 to 3,000 - 3,500 inhabitants. In my humble opinion, closer to the truth is the upper limit, because you can find out that Minsk was one of the major urban centers in the eastern Mazovia. CDN
